Dylan Bundy, a top ranked prospect (#2) now likely to have
 season-ending Tommy John surgery.

Dylan Bundy is now set to undergo Tommy John surgery on Thursday (6-27-13). Dylan injured his elbow during Spring Training this year and was expecting to be called up to the Baltimore Orioles during this season.
While Dylan is still young being only 20 years old, the expected recovery time is around one year. Bundy was selected fourth overall in the 2011 amateur draft. He was ranked as the #2 prospect by Baseball America ahead of Zack Wheeler, Jose Fernandez, Shelby Miller, and Gerrit Cole. With Bundy hearing this news, it makes this 2013 season even more frustrating as he has yet to pitch in a game this season.

Bundy has pitched in 2 career MLB games. It is only a sample size of what the Orioles have seen in him. The Orioles believe that he is a can't miss prospect, as he is ranked as the #1 pitching prospect. This is also a big loss for the Baltimore Orioles because they needed Bundy later in the year to help them in the postseason chase. Bundy felt something wrong when he was throwing at 120 feet during warm-ups earlier in the week. Dylan has come a long way since his elbow injury after receiving a PRP injection (Platelet Rich Plasma) in his flexor mass muscle in late April. A PRP injection is a concentration of platelet cells taken from your blood and the job of the injection is to stimulate and optimize your body's ability to heal the condition. The Orioles will be in no rush to get Bundy back as they do not want to damage his arm anymore as he is still young and they want him in their future plans.
