AL East Chase

Edwin Encarnacion has been on fire as of late. He has been one of the
big players to contribute to the Jays 11 game win-streak. Over his
last 7 games he is hitting .346 with 3 home runs and 8 RBI'S.

Don't count the Blue Jays out of the American League East race just yet. As bad things have happened with the Blue Jays this season, things are looking like they are picking up. Not only is the pitching for the Jays contributing in a big way, but the bats have been there too.

The jays are averaging 6 runs a game and have won 6 straight home games. They will be heading on the road for their next 7 straight games. If they can keep up their hitting then I don't see how they can be stopped. The next two series will be critical for the Jays as it is against two AL East opponents, the Rays, then the division leading Red Sox. The Blue Jays are 5 games back of first place but with the top 3 teams in the division starting to cool down this is the chance for the Jays to climb up in the division.

If I could talk about one player coming out of nowhere it would have to be Munenori Kawasaki. His playing ability goes past what his numbers show. He is only hitting .228 but a .341 on base percentage is a nice number for a back-up player. He is the fill-in for Jose Reyes and has brightened up the Jays locker room this year. Manager John Gibbons talks about how he has been so energetic and how the fans and players love the surprise player. He recently hit his first career home run and he has a lot to offer until Reyes returns.

Jose Bautista started off a little slow to start the year but as of late he is starting to pick things up. Average wise you do not know what you will get out of him as his average has been all over the place in the past 6 years. He is the what I believe to be the center-piece of the Blue Jays. He has been with the Jays for the past 6 years and they will continue to have him until 2015. Lets see where Bautista can take the Jays and if they can make the playoffs even with the struggle in a little less than half the season.

Now lets talk about the Jays woes in the 2013 season. The Jays were looking like they were going to be atop the division with the Baltimore Orioles this season, but it has been the total opposite. The Jays made a blockbuster trade with the Miami Marlins in the off-season but it has yet to pay off for them. The Jays received Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson, utility player Emilio Bonifacio and John Buck. This was suppose to make the Jays the best team in the division but Reyes went down with an injury in April. While Buehrle, and Johnson share a 5-6 record with a sub 5.00 ERA. They have both won their last 3 games which is great for the Jays to comeback in the division. Will the Blue Jays put the pieces together steering towards the all-star break or will they continue with their struggles and miss out on the playoffs once again?

They are starting to heat up as they have won 11 straight games.
